A literary lifestyle proposed by Miu Miu: the Miu Miu Book Club
The Evolution of Fashion: Moving Beyond Clothing to Create a Platform for Intellectual Discourse
The way in which fashion houses convey their brand philosophies is evolving beyond mere fashion shows or pop-up shops to become profound cultural experiences. Just as Jil Sander partnered with the publishing house Apartamento to present the ‘Reference Library’ exhibition at Milan Design Week 2026—a collection of books that served as the starting point for artists’ reflections—sharing the creator’s ‘framework of thought’ has become the new benchmark for luxury brands.
At the heart of this cultural branding, the brand demonstrating the most distinctive approach is none other than Miu Miu. Miu Miu does not merely exhibit books; it incorporates the very act of reading and discussing literature together—using literature as a medium—into the brand’s core experience, leaving a deep impression on modern women.

The fourth edition of the ‘Miu Miu Literary Club’
Now in its fourth season under the meticulous direction of Miuccia Prada, the ‘Miu Miu Literary Club’ has sparked discussion both within and beyond the fashion world by spotlighting works of women’s literature that embody a distinctive sense of identity.
For this season, the club has selected *A Girl’s Story* by Annie Ernaux, the French Nobel Prize-winning author, and *Changes: A Love Story* by the Ghanaian literary giant Ama Ata Aidoo as its central reads. Drawing on these two masterpieces, Miu Miu seamlessly facilitated multifaceted discourse and dialogue on women’s desire, consent and self-determination in contemporary society.

A philosopher’s curation, a reading room, and the creation of a space for conversation and repose
The reason this year’s Miu Miu Book Club project attracted even more attention was that it significantly expanded the spatial scope of the literary club.
For the first time, the ‘Curated Library’—a small library-style space filled with books personally selected by the world-renowned feminist philosopher Rosi Braidotti—was unveiled. Furthermore, by creating a ‘Reading Room’, the brand provided a quiet space where visitors could freely pick up a book and read for as long as they wished—rather than a pop-up event where guests are in a hurry to leave.
In doing so, the brand has gone beyond simply offering visual splendour to its target consumers, instead presenting them with the ‘luxury of time and space’ – a place where they can explore their identity and enjoy intellectual leisure.

A moment spent with a book in the heart of Milan
During Milan Fashion Week 2026, the scene at the reading club—which I visited after making a reservation (RSVP) via the Miu Miu official website—was a world away from the hustle and bustle of the show venues. Upon checking in at the entrance and stepping inside, visitors received a neat welcome pack containing a notebook and pencil bearing the Miu Miu logo, along with two books to read that day.
Inside, the shelves of the ‘Rosi Braidotti Library’ were filled with books on philosophy and women’s studies, and visitors were free to choose a book that took their fancy and settle down on the low fabric sofas or the carpeted floor of the reading room.
When the session begins, the panellists take to the stage to engage in a down-to-earth discussion not about fashion, but about ‘women’s consent and freedom’; whilst the audience sip the iced espresso provided, jotting down notes in the notebooks handed out or quietly exchanging views with the person next to them. Even after the one-hour talk has ended, no one is in a hurry to leave; instead, they remain in the space provided, leafing through books and fully enjoying their own personal time.

The intellectualism embodied by the Miu Miu woman
Miu Miu’s literary club is widely regarded as having elevated the paradigm through which fashion engages with the public. Moving beyond simply wearing stylish clothes, the brand has fully embraced within its worldview not only the garments themselves but also the books read by those who wear them and the social discourses with which they deeply resonate.
Miu Miu has transformed the act of reading literature together and engaging in conversation into a way of life that the brand aspires to. If you wish to recharge both your intellectual aura and your cultural depth, why not step into the literary reading room that Miu Miu has opened wide?
